Não sei se o Sr. se recorda de mim, mas acompanhei-o durante o Debate Internacional de Endodontia realizado na cidade de Uberlandia há alguns anos e onde se fizeram presentes vários professores. Dentre eles, dois dos quais me orgulho de ter conhecido e cuja experiência tive oportunidade de compartilhar bem de perto: Dr. Elizeu Pascon e o Dr. Kaare Langeland. O Prof. Pascon atualmente está em atividade na Itália e ontem recebi o triste e-mail, que gostaria que fosse transcrito em seu Blog haja vista que vários colegas especialistas o acessarem. No meu ponto de vista, o Dr. Langeland foi um dos principais estudiosos e conhecedores de biologia pulpar na história da Endodontia, com pesar anuncio o falecimento de mais um dos nossos baluartes. Here is the obituary for Dr. Langeland.

LANGELAND, Dr. Kaare Professor Kaare Langeland, D.D.S., Ph.D., D.SC.H.C. of West Hartford and Newport, RI, age 90, died on Monday (July 9, 2007), at his home in West Hartford. Dr. Langeland was born in Saltdal, Norway in 1916 and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery, D.D.S. from Norwegian State Dental School. Officer during World War II. During that time he helped lead the underground resistance movement during the Nazi occupation of Norway and helped liberate his beloved Norway. Due to his outstanding personal contributions during this time, he was awarded the Norwegian War Medal with Star in 1945. In 1957 he earned his Doctor of Philosophy from Oslo University and began a life-long, internationally recognized career in endodontic research. He held numerous positions at universities worldwide including Professor and Chairman of the Department of Endodontology at the School of Dental Medicine, University of Connecticut and was a founding faculty member of the University of Connecticut Health Center countries in Europe and in the United States. Most recently, he was Professor Emeritus of the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Connecticut. Professor Kaare Langeland was an active member of many professional associations including The American Dental Association, The International Association for Dental Research and American Association for Dental Research.
